When I announced that I was partnering with Oiselle, I shared my passion for the company, it’s ideals, and the people who run it. Today I am very proud to announce my partnership with Nuun. Once again the shared values and objectives of the company make us a great match.
I first started using Nuun back in 2009. I was working with nutritionist Krista Austin and she was helping me learn the way to properly hydrate while training for a marathon. Krista told me that when eating a meal, you are fine drinking water because your food contains plenty of carbohydrates. But when you are sipping on your water bottle during the day, and also before, during and after runs, you need to being taking in some electrolytes. I was concerned about drinking a sugary sports drink all day long. Wasn’t that a lot of calories? Wasn’t that a lot of sugar? She told me that she had something else in mind, and she sent me some Nuun. It was delicious, natural, nearly calorie free, and tasted great. It had great flavor, but not so sweet that I felt like it was heavy or sticking around with me. I tell you all of this not to be a obvious advertisement for Nuun, but to show you that I have been authentically using Nuun for years.
Last year I got to know Mason Reay. He was the CEO of Nuun at the time, and we started to communicate. I learned more about Nuun and he provided me with product. It was great, I was already using it and I was becoming more educated on healthier hydration. This past February I had the pleasure of having dinner with Kevin Rutherford, the new CEO of Nuun. Or, as he calls himself, the chief electrolyte officer. I had just returned from my visit with Oiselle, and I was viewing my relationship with potential sponsors in a new light. The dinner with Kevin was incredibly inspiring and I knew right away that I wanted to be associated with Nuun. He told me about his past work and how he completed an ironman to motivate his former co-workers that they could do anything they set their minds to. He has powered himself on a vegan diet, not because he’s bragging about it, but because it leaves a smaller ecological footprint on the earth. He thinks about the impact that everything has on the environment and he believes that people are capable of more than they know. I’m always telling people that you are stronger than you think, that you can be an even better version of yourself. Of course I try to push people to take this journey from running, but the message is the same.
To quote the mission statement from Nuun, “we are an enthusiastic group of ‘hydrators’ on a mission to inspire the world to experience life’s next PR (Personal record).” This is a genuine mission. Nuun wants to help you be your best self by helping you properly hydrate so that you can get out there and achieve your goals and dreams. I want you to realize that you are capable of more than you ever believed possible. Just like my feelings towards Oiselle, Nuun is a company I believe in. I am very excited to announce this partnership today. Together with Oiselle and Nuun, I hope that we are able to inspire you to be all you can be. We can all work together to better our lives. This is just the beginning! So much to achieve!
